I've been getting slow
in keeping up with things -
I don't focus much anymore.
Envelopes are forming
towers on my desk;
all my bills are past-due.
The nagging voices and
pinpricks on my neck
from a sense of epic
responsibility are
quieter after last year.
I get older
and I shrink.
There's probably a medical treatment
(removal of the skull to place a
freezing injection into the brain stem)
that is advisable in this situation.
I just can't find the number
for my local doctor.
